The DOC “Sofia” of the Rostov-on-Don diocese held an interregional art competition “Traditions of my family. My Little Motherland" in St. Petersburgtranslated

From September 9 to September 13, 2026, the Don Orthodox Center “Sofia” of the Rostov-on-Don diocese held an interregional art competition “Traditions of my family. My small Motherland" in St. Petersburg. The competition is held within the framework of the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia.
The co-organizers of the project were the Synodal Department of Religious Education and Catechesis of the Russian Orthodox Church, the autonomous non-profit organization “Center for Educational and Cultural Initiatives “Generation”. Over 800 people took part in the competition in the regions (Rostov, Murmansk, Vladimir, Oryol, Tver, Irkutsk regions, the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, the city of St. Petersburg).
The young artists, the winners of the first regional stage, came together with their mentors to St. Petersburg for the finals of the competition. Teenagers and teachers took part in a rich excursion program and attended master classes in the open air of the Northern capital. All participants noted that the uniqueness of the master classes lies in the fact that they teach how to control the unpredictability of water and paint, allowing you to create an airy and shining picture from scratch in just a few hours.
The organizers of the project are the head of the Sofia Children's Center...
