With the blessing of Metropolitan John of Belgorod and Stary Oskol

In Belgorod, in the Memory Park, where construction of a temple in honor of the holy martyr John the Warrior is currently underway, a prayer service was held, which brought together members of the Orthodox community of the visually impaired and hearing impaired.

The location for the temple on the site of the chapel was not chosen by chance: it is here that there is a neighborhood nearby where people with visual and hearing disabilities live. Metropolitan John of Belgorod and Stary Oskol consecrated the foundation stone of the temple in July last year, and now the walls have almost been erected here.

Archpriest Georgy Vlasenko, chairman of the department for education and catechesis of the Belgorod and Stary Oskol diocese, who has been communicating with members of the community of the visually impaired and hard of hearing with the blessing of Metropolitan John for more than 15 years, as well as the rector of the Church of Cyril and Methodius at the Belgorod Orthodox Gymnasium Michael, were invited to perform a prayer service for the holy martyr John the Warrior Artemenko. And, of course, their confessor, Priest Alexander Dunyazin, was with the community, as well as Mother Marina Serdyuk, who helps people with sign language translation.

During the prayer service, believers were able to venerate the icon of John the Warrior, specially made for the blind...
