On September 1, 2026, on the Day of Knowledge, a pine tree was planted on the territory of the Alexander Nevsky Church of the Sofrinsky brigade of the Russian Guard, which, at the request of the confessor of the Sofrin warriors, Abbot Feofan (Zamesov), the trustees of the parish brought from the Seraphim-Diveevsky Monastery. Military personnel from the brigade and church employees took part in the event along with Father Feofan.

In our own church here in Larissa we had planted a cypress tree from Mount Athos five years ago and during the first winters we wrapped it in a frost sack; then it took hold. Here in Thessaloniki last year we planted a small olive tree from the Holy Monastery of Vlatadon and we water it often in the first season so that it takes root.
