“Children are holy and pure”: at an exhibition in Moscow they talk about the theme of childhood in the works of Anton Chekhovtranslated

At the House-Museum of A.P. Chekhov State Museum of the History of Russian Literature (GMIRLI) named after. V.I. Dal in Moscow opened the exhibition ““Children” by A.P. Chekhov."
The exhibition is timed to coincide with the 140th anniversary of Anton Chekhov’s story “Children” and addresses the theme of childhood in his work, the Foma magazine was told at the GMIRLI named after. V.I. Dalia.

The exhibition focuses not only on the “children’s” literature created by the classic during the years of his residence in the house on Sadovaya-Kudrinskaya, but also the phenomenon of childhood itself: a reflection of the writer’s own family life in his works, the world of children’s fantasy revealed in illustrations and subject matter, country life, which became a source of vivid impressions for the writer.
The heroes of the exhibition are both the characters in the stories “Boys”, “Kashtanka”, “Vanka”, “I Want to Sleep”, “Children”, “Grisha”, “At Home”, “Event”, “Fugitive”, as well as possible prototypes and inspirations: the Chekhov brothers and sister, the little inhabitants of the Babkino estate - Sasha and Seryozha Kiselyov.
