Adrian and Natalia are a couple from the city of Nicomedia (Asia Minor, modern Turkey), whose history dates back to the beginning of the 4th century, during the reign of Emperor Galerius Maximian (305–311).

Adrian held the position of an official in the judicial chamber and was a pagan, and his wife Natalia professed Christianity, but hid it. During the period of persecution at Nicomedia, 23 Christians were arrested, tortured and brought to Hadrian to have their names included in the judicial list.
