On September 22, on the Day of Remembrance of employees of the penitentiary system of the Russian Federation who died in the performance of official duties, a memorial service was held in the St. Sophia Cathedral in Samara. Employees of the Office of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Samara Region took part in the service. The funeral service was performed by the head of the prison ministry department of the Samara diocese, the dean of prison churches, Priest Andrei Ivanov. Addressing those gathered, Father Andrei noted the special sacrificial nature of serving the Fatherland: “Any person, especially those in the service of the Motherland, helps protect life from evil. Now our guys, who are in the zone of a special military operation, are protecting us. This is how the love for the world is manifested, which was shown to us by the Lord Jesus Christ, who took the Cross for us and was the first to walk this path. We also follow this path, especially those who serve the Fatherland. This is sacrificial work." After the funeral service, awards were presented.
