From medicine to theology: the Metropolitan of Bessarabia spoke to ProTV about the searches that brought him closer to Godtranslated

His Holiness Father Antonie, Metropolitan of Bessarabia, spoke in a podcast on ProTV Chisinau, about the path that led him from medical studies to theology and, later, to monastic life.
Metropolitan Antonie explained that his approach to theology began during his medical studies, when psychiatry courses raised questions about the existence and suffering of the soul.
"And these questions arose, if he is sick in the soul, it means that the soul exists, but under what conditions does the soul get sick? And if the soul gets sick, what is the relationship of the suffering of the soul to the suffering of the body?".
After finishing his medical studies, the news of the opening of the Faculty of Theology in Iasi and the possibility for young people from Bessarabia to study there led him to follow this new path. In Iași, the meeting with teachers such as father Mircea Păcurariu helped him, according to his testimony, to look differently at the history learned during the Soviet period.
