Un deuxième cardinal et un troisième haut responsable de l'Église pourraient être réhabilités cette année pour mauvais traitements sous le régime communiste en Tchécoslovaquie. Le tribunal de district de Litoměřice, dans l'actuelle République tchèque, examinera une proposition de réhabilitation du cardinal Štěpán Trochta, ancien évêque de Litoměřice, suite à son internement entre 1950 et 1953.

Le procureur a demandé aux autorités compétentes de mener une enquête sur les archives et, sur la base des résultats, a jugé l'initiative raisonnable. Il a déjà soumis une proposition de réhabilitation judiciaire de Trochta pour privation illégale de sa liberté personnelle. La date d'examen de la proposition n'a pas encore été fixée.

« Je crois fermement que le nom de Štěpán Trochta, mon prédécesseur à Litoměřice, sera innocenté par les tribunaux », a déclaré Mgr Stanislav Přibyl, archevêque de Prague, qui est également administrateur apostolique de Litoměřice.

Le verdict qui a envoyé Trochta en prison, rendu lors d'un procès politique pour « trahison et complot », a été annulé en 1968, mais les tribunaux tchèques n'ont pas statué sur son internement illégal antérieur. L’initiative d’une réhabilitation complète est venue de janvier…
