Cyprus reaffirms support for Orthodox Church’s pastoral work in Jordan

The Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Cyprus for Religious Freedoms and the Protection of Minorities in the Middle East, Thessalia-Salina Shambos, was received by Archbishop Christophoros of Kyriakoupolis during a visit to Jordan.
The Cypriot official was accompanied by the Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Sevag Avedissian.
During the meeting, Cyprus reaffirmed its commitment to continuing its support for the pastoral work of the Orthodox Church in Jordan, including through social initiatives and other activities serving the wider community.
The discussions also highlighted the strong ties between Cyprus and the Greek Orthodox Church in Amman, within the broader context of the historic and spiritual role of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem in the region.
