Christians around the world mark Season of Creation 2026: One in four people do not have access to safe drinking watertranslated

Christians around the world are marking the Season of Creation 2026, held this year under the theme "Living Water". According to the dedicated guide, one in four people globally does not have access to safe drinking water.

The Season of Creation is an ecumenical Christian initiative held annually between September 1 and October 4 and is marked by prayers and actions for the protection of creation.

This year's guide draws attention to the global water crisis: 2.1 billion people do not have access to safe drinking water and 1.7 billion lack basic sanitation services in their own homes.

Among the issues reported are river pollution, drought, flooding, desertification, over-exploitation of groundwater and increased water consumption associated with data centers and the necessary energy production including the use of artificial intelligence.
