I wonder how they ended up changing the rules without the voting members knowing. It seems that in such a large church, money and power mattered more than transparency. Sad, anyway.

Our parish votes on the budget too, and it keeps things honest even if the meetings run long. Still, every church constitution is different — maybe Second Baptist always had some flexibility in their bylaws that the judge just upheld. Do you think our own council should review ours again just in case?

Yes, Elijah, I also wondered how they could change the rules without the voters finding out. In a church with thousands of members, it's easy to lose transparency when leadership is more concerned with budget and succession than general assembly.
