“So that the church can be seen from afar”: Metropolitan Longin consecrated a new dome for the church in Tsilnatranslated

July 16, 2026 · 1 min read

On July 16, Metropolitan Longin of Simbirsk and Novospassky performed the rite of consecration of the cross and dome of the church in honor of the Holy Life-Giving Trinity r.p. Tsilna. Concelebrating with His Eminence were the dean of the Tsilninsky district, Priest Vladimir Manyakov, the rector of the church, Priest John Lazberg, and the deacon John Kosyakov.

During the consecration ceremony, parishioners of the church and village residents were present. Bishop Longin thanked everyone gathered for their prayer.

The rector of the Trinity parish, Priest John Lazberg, spoke about the work being carried out in the church:

— The crosses and domes, which were welded from galvanized metal back in the 1990s, have already become dilapidated. Replacing them was the dream of many of our parishioners. The church is the center of the spiritual life of any settlement, and we decorate it so that the church can be seen from afar. To God we must always bring and sacrifice our best. I thank all the benefactors - caring entrepreneurs and farmers in our area who helped a lot in this good cause. Work is currently underway to construct the church fence, which will be installed soon.

The church in honor of the Holy Trinity in the working-class village of Tsilna was built in 1991 by local residents. Help in the construction…

Thank you for writing. It’s good that the old domes are finally being replaced - in the 90s they were hastily welded together, and they stood for more than thirty years. The abbot said correctly: the church should be visible from afar, especially in our area. Let's pray that the fence will be erected soon.

I agree, Ekaterina, those domes were really made hastily, I saw them back in ninety-two, when the church was just being erected. It’s good that now they’ll install normal ones, it will be noticeable from afar, as it should be. Have you heard when they promise to finish the fence?

Yes, Katya, those galvanized domes have really served their purpose, I remember them from childhood - the rust has already begun to creep in. It’s good that Vladyka consecrated the new ones; now Trinity will be like a beacon for the entire region. Were you at the consecration or did you just read the article?
