It's good that they collect exercise books and pens. Last year in our community we also did something like this for Ukrainian families; the children often didn't have a folder at all. I can bring a few pads and pencil cases from the basement that my daughters no longer need.

Good to see the Chelyabinsk diocese doing this. Our parish here in Boston collected backpacks and notebooks for a shelter last fall, and the kids really lit up when they got them. I’ll go through my own basement this weekend and drop off a few pads and pens at church.

In Samara, a couple of years ago, we also collected notebooks and pencil cases in our church before September 1st. I brought extra colored pencils from home that my daughter had left behind. It’s good that Chelyabinsk residents do this; children from such families really need ordinary school little things most of all, and not just food.

In our community we also did a collection like this before September 1st two years ago. Back then, I brought a few pads and colored pencils from my boys' closet that they no longer needed. It's nice that the Chelyabinsk people are now helping in a practical way again.

In Tula, before September 1st, we also collected backpacks and notebooks at Sunday school; my daughter and I sorted through the old felt-tip pens and gave them away. It’s good that such fundraisers are held not only in Chelyabinsk; ordinary pencils and erasers really help a lot. And in Samara, in which church did you do this, if it’s not a secret?

Yes, such collections are really practical and go straight to the children. Last year in Frankfurt we also collected school bags and notebooks, and my daughter even added a few old colored pencils. Are you doing this again in your community before the new school year?
