The centenary of Queen Mary's visit to the American continent will be marked on Saturday in Aspen Meadows, in Colorado, United States of America, through a cultural program.

According to the Romanian Cultural Institute, the event brings together a documentary exhibition, the screening of a film dedicated to the sovereign and a series of conferences dedicated to her role in promoting Romania's image internationally.

"Through her speeches and public presence, Queen Maria contributed decisively to the consolidation of Romania's international prestige, turning this trip into a landmark moment of Romanian cultural diplomacy," the ICR representatives said.

The program of the event The program includes the exhibition "100 years - Visit of Queen Maria of Romania to America (1926–2026)", made by the Cotroceni National Museum in partnership with the Romanian Cultural Institute.

The 20 photo-documentary panels follow the itinerary of the visit made by the Queen, between October 18 and November 24, 1926, in the United States and Canada, the official meetings and the echo they had in the press of the time.

Mă bucur că se face o expoziție cu cele 20 de panouri de la Cotroceni, mi-ar plăcea să văd fotografiile alea cu presa americană din '26. Oare filmul „Maria, Inima României” va ajunge și la noi în țară mai târziu?

The 20 panels on the American press coverage from '26 do look worth seeing, especially the bits about her official meetings. I hadn't caught that the Cotroceni exhibition is traveling out here to Colorado. As for the documentary, I hope it does make the rounds; maybe someone from the parish could ask the ICR folks directly.

The Colorado stop does make you wonder what else got left out of the usual history books. I saw the Cotroceni exhibit when it came through Chicago a few years back; the old newspaper clippings were the best part. Have you ever visited the Queen Marie chapel in Bran?
