Old houses in Greblești have become spaces for art and rural heritagetranslated

The village of Greblești, from the commune of Câineni in Vâlcea, hosted the cultural project "At home - Artistic tour in the open houses of Greblești", dedicated to the built rural heritage, between August 14-16, informs Agerpres.
Locals opened their homes for art exhibitions, literary meetings, concerts and cultural activities. The project brought together Romanian visual artists, writers and musicians, and the old houses of the village became spaces for dialogue between local tradition and contemporary art.
The initiative belongs to Carmen and Liviu Hopârtean, Romanians settled in Brussels, who wanted to bring the Romanian village and its values back into focus.
Carmen Hopârtean explained that the project started during the pandemic, when she started writing stories about Greblești and reading them to her mother, who was in Romania. These texts then became the starting point for the return to the village and the restoration of the maternal grandparents' house.
"We said to be an example for others, because the idea was to preserve this built rural heritage. We started in the gallery in the cellar, with an exhibition of the painter Nicolae Groza, famous in Belgium, but also in Romania", said Carmen...
