Divine Liturgy on the Feast of the Exaltation of the Precious and Life-Giving Cross of the Lordtranslated

On September 27, the Orthodox Church celebrates the Exaltation of the Precious and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord - one of the twelve holidays. It recalls the discovery of the Cross on which the Lord Jesus Christ was crucified, and reveals its meaning as a sign of the Savior’s sacrifice, victory over sin and death and hope for eternal life.

On the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, September 27, 2026, His Eminence Stefan, Archbishop of Gomel and Zhlobin, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the parish of the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in the village of Romanovichi.

His Eminence was served by the secretary of the Gomel diocese, Archpriest Georgy Alampiev, the dean of the Gomel district, Archpriest Artemy Krivitsky, the rector of the parish, Priest Nikolai Lobzha, and the clergy of the diocese.

During the service, intense prayer requests for the restoration of peace were offered.

The holiday is associated with the discovery of the Holy Cross in Jerusalem in the 4th century. According to Church Tradition, the shrine was found during searches undertaken under Emperor Constantine the Great and his mother, Equal-to-the-Apostles Queen Helen.
