Divine Liturgy on the day of remembrance of the Venerable Martyr Macarius of Pinsktranslated

On the 16th Sunday after Pentecost, the day of remembrance of the Venerable Martyr Macarius of Pinsky, September 20, 2026, His Eminence Stefan, Archbishop of Gomel and Zhlobin, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the parish of the Church of the Holy Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky in the village of Nivki.
His Eminence was co-served by the secretary of the Gomel diocese, Archpriest Georgy Alampiev, and the rector of the parish, Priest Georgy Borodin.
During the Liturgy, intense prayer requests for the gift of peace were offered.
At the end of the service, Archbishop Stefan congratulated the communicants on their reception of the Holy Mysteries of Christ and addressed the worshipers with words of archpastoral edification.
*** Prmch. Macarius Kanevsky (1605–1678) was born in Volyn. He became a monk and served in the monasteries of Ovruch, Pinsk and Kupyatichi. For more than 10 years he actively resisted Latin-Polish pressure on Orthodoxy. Since 1660 - archimandrite of the Ovruch monastery. After the destruction of Ovruch by the Poles, he moved to the Kiev Pechersk Lavra, then became the abbot of the Kanevsky Monastery. On September 7, 1678, during a Turkish attack, he was hanged between pillars and beheaded two days later. The saint’s body miraculously remained incorrupt after the fire in the church.…
