On the territory of the parish, a church is being built in honor of St. Nicholas Svyatoshi. On October 27, 2014, Archbishop Stefan laid the capsule into the foundation of the future church.
Concelebrating with His Eminence was the dean of the Gomel district, Archpriest Artemy Krivitsky, the rector of the parish, Priest Pavel Braginets, and the clergy of the Gomel diocese.
During the Liturgy, intense prayer requests for the restoration of peace were offered.
At the end of the service, Archbishop Stefan congratulated the worshipers on the holiday, the communicants on receiving the Holy Mysteries of Christ, and addressed those gathered with an archpastoral word.
The Bishop recalled the life and feat of St. Nicholas the Svyatosha, a prince who left worldly life and became a monk at the Kiev Pechersk Lavra. In the monastery, the saint did not take advantage of his origins; he performed simple obediences, worked equally with his brethren, and helped those in need.
