“Blessed are the merciful”: Metropolitan Longin blessed the charity society at St. Andrew’s Church to servetranslated

On July 12, on the 6th week after Pentecost, the day of remembrance of the glorious and all-praised supreme apostles Peter and Paul, Metropolitan Longin of Simbirsk and Novospassky celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the church in the name of the holy Apostle Andrew the First-Called in Ulyanovsk.

His Eminence was served by the secretary of the Simbirsk diocesan administration, the dean of the third Simbirsk city district, the rector of the church, Priest Roman Solodko, Priest Vadim Ushakov, Priest Sergius Antonov, the head of the protocol service of the Simbirsk diocesan administration, Priest Valery Stavrovsky, Deacon Ioann Kosyakov, and Deacon Grigory Shevchenko. During the service the Bishop's male choir of the Simbirsk Metropolis sang under the direction of the regent, Priest Andrei Chizhov.

At the end of the Liturgy, a prayer service was offered to the holy chief apostles Peter and Paul. The Bishop blessed the sisters and brothers of the charity society in the name of the Holy Apostle Andrew the First-Called, formed at the church, to serve, prayed for the beginning of a good deed, and consecrated the form. 22 volunteers from among the parishioners completed courses at the Ulyanovsk Medical College and received the specialty “Junior nurse in patient care.”

It’s good that 22 people completed the courses and received a specialty. Apparently, things were taken seriously. I wonder where they will start helping first - in the hospital or at parishioners’ homes?

Unfortunately, these courses were also sent to the medical school, but просто на словах. Interesting, what are the buduts to distinguish between the two? всё-таки начнут с помощи пожилым прихожанам на дому, как Илья спрашивает.

Good thing the 22 people took classes at the medical college and got a certificate. They are not just volunteers, they are properly trained. Where I live, I know the elderly in homes need the most help, so I hope they start there.

I agree, Anthony, the medical school classes make a difference. Here in our parish we often see elderly people who live alone and need help with medicine or food. I also hope they start at home, as you say.
