Gratitude to God and memory of the Victory: Independence Day in the Gomel Diocesetranslated

On July 3, 2026, on the Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus, with the blessing of His Eminence Stefan, Archbishop of Gomel and Zhlobin, prayer and memorial events dedicated to the anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders were held in the deaneries of the Gomel diocese.
Rechitsa deanery
In the churches of the diocese, thanksgiving services and prayers for peace, the well-being of the people and the preservation of historical memory were performed. On this day, the clergy, together with parishioners, representatives of government bodies, labor collectives, public associations, youth and residents of cities and regions, offered prayers for those living today and for those who gave their lives for the freedom of their native land.
Buda-Koshelevo Deanery
Priests of the Gomel diocese took part in solemn processions, rallies, laying flowers at memorial signs, mass graves, memorial complexes and places of military glory. At the monuments there were words of gratitude to the generation of winners, memories of the feat of the defenders of the Fatherland and a call to preserve peace, which was won at a high price.
