Bishop Vasily’s Visit to the Western Slope of the Rocky Mountains

From August 11–13, 2026, His Grace Bishop Vasily, accompanied by the diocesan chancellor, V. Rev. Kirill Sokolov, and the local dean, V. Rev. Andreas Blom, made a pastoral visit to the parishes and missions of western Colorado. On August 11, His Grace met with V. Rev. Luke Uhl, priest-in-charge of Holy Wisdom in Grand Junction, and the mission council. He attended Vespers and joined the parish community for dinner. On August 12, Bishop Vasily met with retired Archpriest Daniel Jones, who oversees the mission in Montrose. That evening, he attended Vespers at St. Andrew’s in Delta and shared dinner with the rector, Rev. Gregory Matlak and parishioners, answering questions from the faithful. On August 13, His Grace presided at the Divine Liturgy at St. Andrew’s, commemorating St. Tikhon of Zadonsk and the Leavetaking of the Feast of Transfiguration. The local Orthodox clergy concelebrated. This was Bishop Vasily’s first archpastoral visit to this part of the diocese. He expressed his gratitude for the faithful and for the good work being done in the parishes and missions, as well as for their continued growth. Photo Gallery:
