Bishop of Tamisos: The Holy Fathers Preserved the Apostolic Faith of the Church

On Sunday, 19 July 2026, when the Holy Church commemorated the Holy Fathers of the Fourth Ecumenical Council, Bishop Panaretos of Tamisos, Patriarchal Exarch of Lithuania, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Ukrainian Orthodox Community of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Lithuania.
In his homily, His Grace reflected on the Gospel reading of the day, emphasising that even before receiving the light of their bodily eyes, the two blind men already possessed the light of faith. For this reason, they recognised the long-awaited Messiah in the Lord and cried out: “Have mercy on us, Son of David!”
The Bishop then connected the Gospel message with the commemoration of the Holy Fathers of the Fourth Ecumenical Council. Just as the two blind men were granted the grace to behold Christ with the eyes of faith, so the God-bearing Fathers, enlightened by the Holy Spirit, boldly confessed the truth concerning our Lord Jesus Christ as perfect God and perfect man.
