Library hour “Family – small church”translated

On October 16, at the spiritual and educational center of the Polotsk diocese, a library hour “Family - a small church”, dedicated to the Week of Parental Love, was held for students of grade 3 “A” of the State Educational Institution “Secondary School No. 1 of Polotsk”. The librarian of the parish of the Church of St. Michael the Archangel in Novopolotsk, Olga Bakunovich, was invited to the event.

The center's methodologist Valentina Treshchenok reminded schoolchildren that every person needs a family. She is the true value of life. You should always treat your family members with respect: honor your elders, help your younger ones and pray for each other.

The parish librarian Olga Bakunovich spoke about the righteous Joachim and Anna, the holy prophet Zechariah and the righteous Elizabeth, about the noble princes Peter and Fevronia of Murom. Schoolchildren learned that these saints are called the heavenly patrons of the family. Prayers are offered to them for the preservation of peace, love, fidelity and overcoming any everyday difficulties.

The children remembered that every family needs to live according to the Commandments of God, following the rules of love and kindness. It is at home that a person begins to learn to forgive insults and support each other.
