On September 18, at the spiritual and educational center of the Polotsk diocese, for students of grade 4 “B” of the State Educational Institution “Secondary School No. 1 of Polotsk”, a library hour “The Cross that the World Keeps” was held, dedicated to the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross and the 865th anniversary of the creation of the Cross of St. Euphrosyne of Polotsk. The librarian of the parish of the Church of St. Michael the Archangel in Novopolotsk, Olga Bakunovich, was invited to the event.
At the beginning of the library hour, the Center's methodologist Valentina Ivanovna Treshchenok told the schoolchildren that a Sunday school for children had been opened at the Epiphany Cathedral in Polotsk. Classes are held on Sundays at the spiritual and educational center. Anyone can become a student of this Sunday school
The parish librarian Olga Bakunovich told the children about why Christians venerate the Cross of Christ and why they sign themselves with the sign of the cross. Schoolchildren learned about the feast of the Exaltation of the Precious and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord, and also heard the history of the creation and reconstruction of the cross of the Venerable Euphrosyne of Polotsk.
The event ended with a thematic quiz.
