The Leșu Dam in Bihor County was rehabilitated and gradually returned to operation after almost 12 years. It is the first dam in Romania rehabilitated with measures explicitly dedicated to biodiversity and environmental protection, informs Agerpres.
The process of controlled replenishment of the accumulation began in May and is being carried out in stages, under permanent monitoring. The lake has a normal retention volume of 28.3 million cubic meters and serves approximately 225,000 people, playing a role in flood mitigation, flow regulation and water resource management.
The works completed within the rehabilitation project were presented on Monday, during a working visit to the Leșu Dam. The project represents the most important investment of the Crișuri Water Basin Administration financed by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
The working visit was attended by Tánczos Barna, Deputy Prime Minister and Interim Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Diana Buzoianu, Interim Minister of Environment, Water and Forests, Cseke Attila, Minister of Development, Public Works and Administration, the leadership of the National Administration "Romanian Waters",...
