Father Archimandrite Ioan Meiu, the representative of the Romanian Patriarchate in the Holy Land and the superior of the Romanian Settlements at the Holy Places, received on Wednesday the Anglican bishop Peter Eaton from the United States of America.
According to a statement provided by archim. Ioan Meiu for the Basilica News Agency, the hierarch of the Episcopal Church in Southeast Florida expressed his appreciation towards the Blessed Father Patriarch Daniel and the National Cathedral, which he considers "a special achievement and an important testimony of the Christian faith in contemporary society".
The discussions also concerned the situation of the Christian communities in the Holy Land, as well as the need to preserve the faith in the places where the Christian religion was born.
The two also discussed the lives of Christians in the United States of America and the challenges facing Christianity in Europe, particularly regarding "increasing secularization and the decline in the number of those who consistently practice their faith."
