Archim. Benedict Sauciuc at the patron of the Pokrov Hermitage: The faith received from the saints must be kept alivetranslated

Archim. Benedict Sauciuc, the abbot of the Neamț Monastery, spoke about the preservation and transmission of the faith received from the saints, on Sunday, at the Nemțean Pokrov Hermitage, which honored its patron, Saint Athanasius the Athonite.

The abbot of the Neamț Monastery officiated the Holy Liturgy together with a council of clerics, in the presence of the faithful who came to the celebration of the monastic settlement.

In his sermon, Archim. Benedict Sauciuc presented the role of St. Venerable Athanasius the Athonite in the development of the community monastic life of the Holy Mount Athos.

Father Archimandrite recalled that the Romanian monks had as models the great mendicants from Sinai, Palestine and the Holy Mount Athos, and the tradition of communal life and hesychastic mendicancy were also preserved in the Romanian monasteries.

The spiritual heritage of the Pokrov Hermitage Archim. Benedict Sauciuc explained that the Pokrov Hermitage continues this tradition through its founder, Saint Hierarch Pahomie from Gledin, and through the monks who have lived in the settlement over time.

The abbot emphasized that the light of faith received from the saints and passed down from generation to generation must be preserved and further confessed.
