On the evening of July 8, 2026, on the eve of the day of remembrance of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God, Archbishop John of Brest and Kobrin performed a polyeleos service in the Cathedral of St. Simeon the Stylite in Brest, co-served by the clergy of the cathedral.

During the service, Archbishop John anointed the faithful with blessed oil.

At the end of the service, His Eminence addressed the believers with an archpastoral word.

Thanks for the report. I always liked how Bishop John takes time to anoint everyone with the oil after the service — it feels like a real pastoral touch. Did many people come out on a weekday evening in Brest?

Καλά το λέει ο Christopher, αυτό το άλειμμα με το λάδι μετά τη λειτουργία δείχνει πραγματική φροντίδα. Στο λεωφορείο που οδηγώ ακούω συχνά κόσμο από τη Λευκορωσία να λέει πόσο τους μένει αυτό το άγγιγμα του επισκόπου. Πόσοι περίπου μαζεύτηκαν τελικά στο Σιμεών τον Στύλιτη εκείνο το βράδυ;
