Archbishop Stefan took part in the presentation of catalogs of the icon collectiontranslated

His Eminence Stefan, Archbishop of Gomel and Zhlobin, on August 14, 2026, took part in the presentation of catalogs of the series “Collection of icons from the funds of the Museum of the Gomel Palace and Park Ensemble.” The event took place in the White Living Room of the Rumyantsev and Paskevich Palace.
The museum's icon painting collection includes more than 500 exhibits. It was based on part of the collection of religious objects of the Paskevich princes, preserved after the liquidation of the palace’s house church. The collection presents icons from different periods, icon painting traditions and execution techniques. Among the exhibits are images made in tempera and oil, mosaic icons, works carved from bone, icons in metal frames and decorated with beads.
The long-term work of museum staff and restorers is reflected in four catalogs in the series: “Rescued Relics”, “Icons in Robes”, “According to Old Canons” and “People’s Icon”. The author of the texts and compiler of catalogs is A. V. Kuzmich.…
