His Eminence Stefan, Archbishop of Gomel and Zhlobin, on August 14, 2026, visited the regional stage of the VII Republican competition “Family of the Year,” which was held at the Gomel Regional Social and Cultural Center.

The archpastor addressed the participating families and organizers of the event, emphasizing the importance of the spiritual content of family life, the mutual love of spouses and parental example in raising the younger generation.

“The church begins with the family, and the family is called the small church. It is in the family that the spiritual foundation of a person is laid from the earliest years. The spirituality of a family is determined primarily by the relationships between its members. Children look at their parents, perceive their example and subsequently transfer it to their families. Therefore, it is especially important that there is always love, respect and mutual support between parents,” said Archbishop Stephen.

The Bishop thanked the competition participants, wished them to maintain spiritual unity and love in the family, and also expressed gratitude to the organizers for their support of the family and parenthood of many children. At the end, the archpastor presented the families with memorable souvenirs.
