On September 10, a working meeting was held in the Federation Council between Archbishop Nikanor of the South-Sakhalin and Kuril Islands and the Chairman of the Committee of the Federation Council on Foreign Affairs, Senator from Sakhalin Oblast Gregory Borisovich Karyn.

During the meeting, both parties discussed a wide range of issues related to the development of interaction between church and secular authorities in the region, the implementation of various youth and social projects, as well as the construction of new churches on the territory of Sakhalin Oblast.
