On September 8, 2026, at the Brest diocesan administration, a meeting was held between His Eminence John, Archbishop of Brest and Kobrin, with the head of the Department of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus for the Brest region, Andrei Valentinovich Slobodenyuk, who was accompanied by the deputy head of the pre-trial detention center No. 7 of Brest, Sadko O.A.

The guests were given a tour of the diocesan administration and the house church in honor of the “Three-Handed” Icon of the Mother of God. Then there was a conversation between His Eminence and A.V. Slobodenyuk. Archbishop John congratulated him on his appointment and gave God’s blessing for every good deed, presenting icons of the Savior and the Most Holy Theotokos. The chairman of the department for prison ministry, Priest Nikifor Krachko, took part in the meeting.

Thank God for such meetings. It is interesting that Slobodenchuk A. V. just installed, so Archbishop Ioann immediately congratulated and gave icons of the Savior and the Mother of God. It's good that Father Nikifor Kračko was there too, because he is actually engaged in prison service.

Thank you, Stefan, I just noticed that Archbishop Ioann reacted quickly to the new appointment. Father Nikifor Kračko is really the right man for that, because he has been visiting prisons for years and knows the people there. I am interested in how this cooperation will develop in Brest.
