Archbishop John consecrated the domed cross of the “Joy of All Who Sorrow” Church in the city of Bresttranslated

On September 27, 2026, on the 17th Sunday after Pentecost, the Exaltation of the Honest and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord, Archbishop John of Brest and Kobrin consecrated the domed cross of the Church “Joy of All Who Sorrow” in the city of Brest.

His Eminence was served by: the dean of the churches of the Brest city district, the rector of the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in Brest, Archpriest Peter Romanovich; rector of the parish of the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God “Joy of All Who Sorrow” in Brest, Archpriest Dimitry Lukashevich and the clergy of the church.

The diaconal rank was headed by the cleric of the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God “Joy of All Who Sorrow” in Brest, Deacon Alexander Ostapovich.

Liturgical chants were performed by the choir of the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God “Joy of All Who Sorrow” under the direction of Natalya Olesik.

At the end of the service, Archbishop John congratulated the worshipers on the feast of the Universal Exaltation of the Precious and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord and delivered an archpastoral message.

“The dome of the church is always crowned with a cross - the basis of our salvation. Looking at him, we are obliged to carry our cross to save ourselves,” Archbishop John noted in his speech.
