Archbishop John performed a prayer service at the Barkolabovskaya Icon of the Mother of Godtranslated

On August 4, 2026, Archbishop John of Brest and Kobrin performed a prayer service at the Barkolabovskaya Icon of the Mother of God in the Church of the Holy Reverends Alexander Peresvet and Andrei Oslyabi in military unit 2187 in Brest, co-served by the clergy of the Belarusian Orthodox Church. The abbess of the Barkolabovsky Ascension Monastery, Abbess Angelina (Ruff), prayed during the service.

At the end of the service, His Eminence addressed the worshipers with an archpastoral word and taught God’s blessing to those serving to protect the state border. Then Abbess Angelina spoke about the history of the icon and the miracles revealed through prayers in front of the holy image.

The commander of military unit 2187 Sergei Savchuk and the unit’s personnel attended the service.

Everyone was able to venerate the shrine.
