Archbishop Varsanufie of Râmnic celebrates 25 years of bishoprictranslated

The Most Reverend Father Varsanufie, Archbishop of Râmnicu, celebrates his 25th anniversary on Wednesday.

The hierarch was born on January 24, 1968, in Bucharest, in the family of Vasile and Domnica, and was baptized as Valentin.

Between 1985 and 1990 he attended the courses of the Orthodox Theological Seminary "Nifon Mitropolitul" in Bucharest. He continued his studies at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology "Justinian the Patriarch" between 1990-1994, then his master's degree at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Constanța, between 2002 and 2004. In the period 2010-2013, he pursued doctoral studies at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Craiova.

Pruning in monasticism He was ordained a monk at Slănic Monastery, in Argeș county, on April 15, 1997, receiving the name of Varsanufie. The following year, he was ordained a hierodeacon on June 7, 1998, then a hieromonk.

Between 1999 and 2001 he was abbot of the Radu Vodă Monastery in Bucharest, which he reactivated and where he carried out important rehabilitation and restoration works of the monastic settlement. In the same period he was exarch of the Archdiocese of Bucharest.
