"Saint Elijah still calls Christians to faithfulness to the Gospel today," said Archbishop Athanasius of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on Sunday, during the Holy Liturgy celebrated in the Parish of "Saint Prophet Elijah the Tesvitean" in Finchley district, London.

The Most Reverend Father Athanasius explained the Gospel of the 7th Sunday after Pentecost, about the healing of the two blind men and a mute man possessed by a demon, emphasizing that "before they receive the light of their physical eyes, they acquire the light of faith, and this complete trust in Christ becomes the foundation of the miracle that the Lord performs".

"Thus, the Gospel teaches us that man begins to see truly when he looks at the world through the eyes of faith," His Eminence said.

Archbishop Athanasius also referred to the commemoration of the Holy Fathers from the Fourth Ecumenical Synod, highlighting their role in preserving the true faith.
