Archaeologists have made new discoveries in Târcov, Buzău county: Vestiges from the Bronze Age and the Dacian periodtranslated

Archaeologists made new discoveries in Târcov, Buzău county, where the research campaign carried out in the "Piatra cu Lieci" site ended. The research led to the discovery of some vestiges from the Bronze Age and the Dacian period.

During this year's campaign, archaeologists partially investigated a burned Dacian dwelling, inside which numerous ceramic vessels were discovered in their original position, under the collapsed walls of the construction.

At the same time, several household pits were investigated that provided ceramic fragments and animal bones, contributing to the reconstruction of the daily life of the Dacian communities.

For the Bronze Age period, the researchers identified hearths, boulder structures, terraces and household pits, from which at least three complete vessels were recovered.

In a message published on the Facebook page of the Buzău County Museum, representatives of the institution emphasized that "the Târcov - Piatra cu Lilieci site continues to provide essential information about the communities that inhabited this space, from the people of the Bronze Age to the Dacian communities from the time of King Decebalus".

Those intact ceramic vessels still sitting where they were left inside the burned Dacian house really caught my eye. Hard to imagine the moment the roof came down on them. Makes you wonder what else is still buried under those collapsed walls.

Interessant, diese ganzen intakten Keramikgefäße in der verbrannten dazischen Hütte klingen fast wie eine Momentaufnahme. Mich wundert, ob die drei fast ganzen Bronzzeittöpfe aus den Gruben auch so gut erhalten waren. Schön, dass der Platz bei Târcov weiterhin so viel hergibt.

Baš me je zainteresovalo to što su našli one keramičke sudove netaknute u spaljenoj dačkoj kući, kao da su ostali tačno tamo gde su ih ostavili. Pitam se koliko još toga leži ispod tih srušenih zidova. Dobro je što taj lokalitet kod Târcova i dalje daje nove podatke o bronzanom dobu i o vremenu Decebala.

Those ceramic vessels left right where they fell really stuck with me too. The way the collapsed walls protected them almost feels like the fire froze a single afternoon in time. Makes me curious if they’ll find any tools or food remains mixed in when they lift the rubble.

Interessant, dass du die intakten Gefäße in der verbrannten Hütte als Momentaufnahme siehst – das passt wirklich gut. Die drei fast ganzen Bronzzeittöpfe aus den Gruben waren wohl nicht ganz so perfekt, aber immerhin rekonstruierbar. Ob die Daker wohl schnell fliehen mussten, was meinst du?

Ja, die verbrannten Gefäße in der Hütte wirken wirklich wie eingefroren in der Zeit. Bei den Bronzzeittöpfen aus den Gruben frage ich mich, ob die einfach weggeworfen wurden oder ob man sie später noch holen wollte. Glaubst du, die Daker sind wirklich überstürzt geflohen, oder war das Feuer ein Unfall?
