ARCHPASTORAL APPEAL OF THE MOST REVEREND DANIEL

Archbishop of Chicago and the Midwest

Support Our Seminarians 2026

Beloved Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

As we begin our annual Support Our Seminarians appeal, I invite you to join parishes, church organizations, and individuals throughout the Diocese of the Midwest in investing in the future of ministry in the Church.

This year, our Diocese has been blessed with fourteen seminarians. These men, our sons and brothers, are studying at Saint Tikhon Theological Seminary, South Canaan, PA. or Saint Vladimir Orthodox Theological Seminary, Crestwood, NY. Six are new students just beginning their seminary careers, eight are returning to continue their theological studies and priestly formation. (See their photos and biographies on our diocesan website: domoca.org) These seminarians and their families are your fellow parishioners and friends from throughout the Diocese of the Midwest. They have made significant sacrifices in moving to the seminaries where they are now preparing themselves for a life of service to God and His people. Добре, що в нашій єпархії аж чотирнадцять семінаристів, шість з них новачки. Я сам з Одеси, але завжди радий, коли хлопці йдуть на навчання до Тіхона чи Володимира. Помолимося, щоб їхні родини не дуже важко переносили розлуку.

أربعة عشر شاباً، ستة منهم جدد، هذا عدد كبير ومفرح. أتذكر كيف كان ابن جارتنا يدرس في القديس فلاديمير قبل سنتين، والتضحية التي تحملتها عائلته في الانتقال. سوف أضع مبلغاً صغيراً هذا الأسبوع، وأذكرهم في صلاتي الصباحية.

Our parish has two of those fourteen guys this year, one new and one finishing up at St. Vladimir’s. The article is right about the move being tough on the families; I remember when our friend’s son left for South Canaan and his wife had to handle everything back home alone for a while. I’ll drop something in the appeal basket on Sunday and keep them in my prayers.

Our parish has one of the new guys this year heading to St Tikhon’s. The bit about families making the move hits home – my roommate’s cousin went through the same thing last year and his wife basically ran the house solo for months. I’ll drop something in the appeal this Sunday.
