The Archbishop’s message includes the paternal exhortation: “We should not hurry God’s timing because we are afraid of our own,” noting that “there are things which, if they come too soon, we may not yet know how to hold on to. That is why some delays are not refusals; they are preparation.”
More specifically, the Archbishop of Australia states: “Sometimes we pray to God to guide us, but at the same time we have already indicated to Him the path we want Him to follow. With our words, we say, ‘Thy will be done’, but we want His will to resemble our own. True trust, however, begins when you are able to say: ‘My God, this is what I want, this is what my heart longs for; but more than this, I want Your will to be done in my life.’ And perhaps then, when you stop demanding that God follow your plans, you will finally begin to discover His plan for you.
