Archbishop of Australia: Inner peace allows us to recognize the beauty of God’s creation

October 29, 2026 · 1 min read

Archbishop Makarios of Australia emphasized the importance of inner peace as a prerequisite for recognizing and appreciating the beauty of God’s creation in a video message shared on Instagram.

Reflecting on the presence of divine love throughout the natural world, the Archbishop encouraged the faithful to cultivate inner stillness in order to perceive the beauty that surrounds them.

“There is so much beauty in the world, for upon every creature God has left something of the imprint of His love,” he stated.

However, Archbishop Makarios stressed that appreciating this beauty requires more than simply observing the world around us. It also calls for overcoming the inner distractions and restlessness that prevent us from recognizing God’s presence in creation.

“And yet, to be able to perceive this beauty, the noise within us must first fall silent,” he explained.

Concluding his message, the Archbishop highlighted the connection between spiritual tranquility and the ability to appreciate the gifts of creation.

“There is so much beauty in the world, but to recognise it, we must first discover peace within ourselves,” he said.
