Archbishop of Albania inaugurates new Byzantine Music School building in Tirana

The new, modern building of the “Ioannis Koukouzelis” School of Byzantine Music was officially inaugurated in Tirana, Albania, marking an important step in the preservation and promotion of Orthodox liturgical music.
Archbishop Ioannis of Tirana, Durrës and All Albania presided over the blessing ceremony, consecrating the interior spaces of the school, which had previously been housed at the Tabor Spiritual Center.
To commemorate the occasion, Archbishop Ioannis also planted a cypress tree in the courtyard of the new building.
The newly inaugurated premises feature spacious and functional classrooms equipped with modern audiovisual technology, providing improved facilities for students studying Byzantine music.
The School of Byzantine Music was founded in 2012 by the late Archbishop Anastasios of Albania as part of his efforts to encourage young people to participate in the liturgical life of the Orthodox Church, particularly by serving as chanters in parish churches.
Since its establishment, the school has attracted young students from across Albania, contributing to the transmission of the country’s Orthodox musical heritage to younger generations.
