Archbishop Nathaniel Blesses the Use of a New Troparion for Archimandrite Roman Braga
In an archpastoral letter dated July 20, 2026, the feast of the Glorious Prophet Elias the Tishbite, His Eminence Archbishop Nathaniel announced the blessing to use a newly composed troparion dedicated to Archimandrite Roman Braga, whose cause for canonization is currently under consideration.
At the 2025 Episcopate Congress, held at Nativity of the Lord Romanian Orthodox Parish in Chicago, Illinois, the delegates voted unanimously to propose Archimandrite Roman Braga for inclusion among the canonized saints of the Orthodox Church. The Romanian Orthodox Episcopate subsequently presented this petition to the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Orthodox Church in America, which referred the matter to the Canonization Commission for the collection and examination of information concerning his life, ministry, and spiritual legacy.
