Archbishop Makarios of Australia to visit Adelaide and Melbourne

Archbishop Makarios of Australia will undertake pastoral visits to the Dioceses of Adelaide and Melbourne on Saturday and Sunday, August 22 and 23, 2026.
On Saturday, August 22, the feast day of St. Agathonicus and his companions Zoticus, Zeno, Theoprepius, Acindynus and Severian, Archbishop Makarios will visit the Parish of Saints Raphael, Nicholas and Irene in Athelstone, Adelaide.
During his visit, the Archbishop will preside over the Divine Liturgy and perform the consecration of the church.
On Sunday, August 23, the 12th Sunday of Matthew, which also marks the Apodosis of the Feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos and the commemoration of St. Irenaeus, Bishop of Lyons, Archbishop Makarios will travel to Melbourne.
There, he will preside over the Divine Liturgy at the Church of St. Charalambos in Templestowe.
During the service, the Archbishop will also officiate at the annual memorial service for the late Protopresbyter Elias Kentrotis, founder of the parish, who served the community for 37 consecutive years.
