Archbishop Daniel Presides at the Patronal Feast of the Monastery of the Transfiguration in Ellwood City

ELLWOOD CITY, PA — With the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Nathaniel, Archbishop of Detroit and the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate of America, the annual pilgrimage and patronal feast of the Monastery of the Transfiguration in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, were celebrated on August 5–6, 2026, drawing clergy, monastics, and faithful from across the Orthodox Church in America, the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate, and other Orthodox jurisdictions.

At the invitation of His Eminence Archbishop Nathaniel, His Eminence Archbishop Daniel of Chicago and the Diocese of the Midwest presided over the festal celebrations. The pilgrimage began on Wednesday evening with the Festal Vigil, as pilgrims joined the monastery sisterhood in prayer in preparation for the Great Feast of the Transfiguration of Our Lord.

On the Feast of the Transfiguration, Archbishop Daniel celebrated the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy, concelebrated by His Eminence Archbishop Melchisedek of Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania, together with numerous clergy from several Orthodox jurisdictions.
