Amur residents are invited to take part in the “Candle of the Mother of God” eventtranslated

August 1, 2026 · 1 min read

With the blessing of Archbishop Lukian of Blagoveshchensk and Tyndinsk, on August 1, on the eve of the feast of the Apparition of the Mother of God on the Amur in 1900, the annual prayer event “Candle of the Mother of God” will take place in Blagoveshchensk.

Everyone is invited in the evening to light candles and lamps at the steles with the architectural image of the Most Holy Theotokos, offering a prayer to the Queen of Heaven for peace, the well-being of family and friends, for the preservation of our city and the entire Amur land.

In Blagoveshchensk, architectural images of the Blessed Virgin Mary are located:

in the park of the Church of the Holy Martyrs Faith, Nadezhda, Lyubov and their mother Sophia on Topolinaya Street;

in front of the bridge over the Zeya River at the entrance to the city;

at the roundabout of Novotroitsky highway.

The action is timed to coincide with a memorable event for the Amur region - the miraculous appearance of the Blessed Virgin Mary in 1900, when, according to the testimony of contemporaries, Her intercession saved Blagoveshchensk during the days of difficult trials.

We invite residents and guests of the city to join the common prayer and become participants in the “Candle of the Mother of God” campaign.

Most Holy Theotokos, save us!
