Albanian President Bajram Begaj visits historic St. Nicholas Church in Hoçisht

President of Albania Bajram Begaj visited the historic Church of St. Nicholas in Hoçisht, in the Devoll region of Korçë, during his official tour of the area, highlighting the importance of preserving religious heritage and promoting interfaith harmony.

The Albanian President was welcomed by Metropolitan Anastasios of Korçë, accompanied by local clergy and faithful.

During his visit, President Begaj lit candles inside the church and was briefed on the history and significance of the historic religious monument.

The visit took place in a particularly warm atmosphere, with President Begaj praising the work of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania.

He placed particular emphasis on interfaith cooperation, recognizing Albania’s longstanding tradition of religious coexistence as an example of harmony and an important factor in strengthening social cohesion.
