Help in need: "St. Hristofor" Association and ASCOR Bucharest organize a collection for vulnerable peopletranslated

July 14, 2026 · 1 min read

The association for children and the elderly "Saint Hristofor" and the Association of Romanian Orthodox Christian Students, Bucharest branch, organize a collection between July 12 and August 7 for vulnerable people.

The action is part of the "Help in need" campaign, now in its 15th edition, through which products intended for vulnerable people from Bucharest and Ilfov county are collected.

The organizers invite everyone who wants to get involved to contribute non-perishable food, hygiene products and other items needed in everyday life.

"A small gesture can change a life. A bag of food, a package offered from the heart, for you it's little, for them it means a lot. Be part of the good. You're not just giving things. You're giving peace, hope and the feeling that they are not forgotten," the representatives of the "St. Hristofor" Association sent in a post on Facebook.

The products can be brought to the collection point set up in the area of the Piața Sudului metro station in Sector 4 of the Capital.

More information about donation methods, financial contributions and contact details is available here.

I'm glad they made it to the 15th edition. Last year I also took some canned goods and oil to Piata Sudului, there was a big table there. A bag of non-perishable food really helps, especially in the summer when it's hard to find.

Thank you, Nadezhda, for telling us about your experience. Last year I also took a couple of cans of stew and a pack of pasta there, and this year I thought about rice and dishwashing detergent - in the summer, really fresh food spoils quickly. What days do you plan to go to the metro?

Thank you, Dmitry, for the example. Last year I also carried stewed meat, but this year I took cereal and soap - just what doesn’t spoil. I’ll probably arrive on Saturday after the morning service, what days are you thinking about?

Thank you, Alexey, for sharing. Cereals and soap are the most necessary things; buckwheat also worked well for me last year. And on Saturday after the service it’s convenient; I also try to stop by on weekends so as not to be in the crowd. Will you go alone or with someone from the parish?

Thank you, Alexey, for telling me about cereals and soap - this year I also decided to take rice and a pack of washing powder, because last August there was just not enough of it. What time are you going to get to the metro after the service? Maybe I can figure it out then.

Thank you, Dmitry, for sharing your choice - rice and dish soap are really practical things, especially in summer. Last year I also brought the stew, and this year I added a couple of packs of buckwheat and toothpaste. I'm going to stop by on Friday after work, around seven. What time do you usually arrive?

Thank you, Katya, for the tip about buckwheat - last year we also went through two packs quickly. I always take soap and shampoo, and on Saturday after the service I’ll just stop by, because on weekdays I don’t have time with the children. What are you bringing this time?
