Agerpres will digitize approximately 200,000 photos and texts from its historical archive, through a project that will run until September 2029. The program is entitled: "The digitization of the archive of the Agerpres National Press Agency in order to preserve and exploit it as a service of public interest for the benefit of citizens, research, public and private entities".

The project is financed with over 7.5 million lei, through European funds and from the national budget.

According to a statement on the official website of the National Press Agency, "the contract was concluded with the Authority for Digitization of Romania, as the Intermediate Body for the Smart Growth, Digitization and Financial Instruments Program 2021-2027".

"It is the first European project in which Agerpres moves from the position of partner to that of coordinator and beneficiary. In recent years, we have worked alongside European press agencies in projects financed by the European Commission.
