Agafangel readings in Serebryanye Prudytranslated

On October 16, 2026, as part of the XX Agafangel Readings, solemn services were held in the Nativity Church of the village of Mochily, Serebryano-Prudsky deanery, in memory of the repose of the priest Agafangel (Preobrazhensky), Metropolitan of Yaroslavl and Rostov, a native of the village of Mochily. The services were led by Dean Vladimir Shubin, co-served by the rector of the church, Archpriest Sergius Shershnev, and the clergy of the deanery. At the end of the Divine Liturgy, a religious procession took place, at the conclusion of which Father Vladimir performed a funeral litany at the grave of Archpriest Lawrence and Mother Anna of the Preobrazhensky, parents of St. Agafangel. Then the ceremonial events continued in the assembly hall of the Mochila secondary school. The VRIP of the head of the municipal district, Pavel Sergeevich Chetverkin, addressed the audience with a welcoming speech. The meeting was also welcomed by the dean of the district, Priest Vladimir Shubin. Historian and local historian Aleksey Ivanovich Volkov gave an extended report on the saint’s childhood and life.
