Achinsk priest spoke at the XVII Kargapolov Readingstranslated

October 16 and 17 at the Achinsk Museum of Local Lore named after D.S. Kargapolov held the XVII Kargapolov regional folk readings dedicated to the history of the Achinsk land. A total of 37 reports were presented at the forum.

The staff cleric of the Cathedral of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in the city of Achinsk, Archpriest Sergius Pigasov, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. The priest recalled the many years of fruitful cooperation between the museum workers and the cathedral clergy. This connection is further strengthened by the fact that the founder of the museum, Dmitry Kargapolov, is the uncle of the holy martyr Mikhail Kargopolov, who suffered martyrdom in January 1919 near the village of Petrovsky, Birilyussky municipal district. The cathedral also houses an icon of the martyr, painted by Omsk icon painters Sergius and Olga Belov.

Among the speeches on the topic of the Orthodox faith were reports by the head of the pilgrimage service “Holy Rus'” Svetlana Butto “The Righteous Elder Daniel and the Legacy of the Khvorostov merchants” and the teacher of the Sunday school of the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in the village of Bolshoi Ului Lyudmila Uskova “I look at my Ului with gratitude.”
